Workforce Training

The University of Montana - Missoula College of Technology Contract Training Program gives businesses affordable, personalized training to meet their varied needs. Each training is customized to meet the unique needs of your industry and business so you pay for only what you need. Through the College of Technology Outreach Department, you can get the best of both worlds, instructors with extensive business experience, academic credentials and exceptional training skills.

Contract Training Programs Include:

Customized Workshops: Content is tailored for your specific employee level, technical levels or organizational objectives with a focus on your business needs. We can come to your business to conduct the training, or the training can be offered at the College of Technology at a time that is convenient for your employees. Customized training is offered in computers, management, accounting and other College of Technology Program areas.

Strategic and Human Resource Planning: We can help you identify your strengths and opportunities for improvement. We also help you assess the skills of your staff members, compare their skills to your organizational goals and develop individual training plans to help close any skill gap.

Online Short Courses: Finally, no more sending employees to expensive all day workshops. For half the price, employees can now receive three times the amount of training and retain it longer, best of all they don't even have to leave the office. Learn more...

Outreach Programs

Surgical Technology Program: Students are educated to be surgical technologists who work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses in delivering patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. Students participate through the Internet and receive Lab Practicum experience in hospitals in Missoula, Billings and Butte. Contact Debbie Fillmore for more information: 406-243-7860 or deborah.fillmore@umontana.edu

Montana Construction Trades Program: Montana businesses and the state's educational institutions are faced with an opportunity that promises a new future to many workers wishing to enter the workforce as skilled crafts men and women. Students in participating high schools enrolled in the program take courses where they receive high school credit, college credit and a national certification at no additional cost!

Through a partnership with the Montana Contractors' Association and Missoula area high schools, The Missoula College of Technology is piloting a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) program. We are beginning the pilot with a five module carpentry program and will expand to include other trade areas and to other high schools across the state.

Missoula high school students who enroll in their high school Woods classes can now receive national certification for each module of the NCCER curriculum they complete. The certification is recognized by contractors nationwide and increases the students employment outcomes and pay.

Once a student graduates from high school, they present the certificates for the modules they have completed to the Missoula College of Technology and receive full transcripted credit through the Tech Prep Program. Students can then finish the modules along with some general education requirements and have an associate degree completed in almost half the time!
