College of Technology Campus Tours

The University of Montana College of Technology is now offering tours of the COT East Campus and West Campus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00am and 2:00pm. Prospective students and their families, school classes, and other interested groups may schedule tours of both campuses by calling the COT Admissions Office at 406.243.7882 or by emailing COTAdmissions@UMontana.edu.

Applications for Admission

Applications for admissions are available from the University of Montana College of Technology, The University of Montana Mountain (Mountain Campus), and most Montana high schools.  Online applications are also available at Apply for Admission. You may also request an application by contacting Enrollment Services – Admissions at the UM College of Technology.

The College of Technology maintains an open admissions policy. To be admitted, all applicants must provide proof of high school graduation or its equivalent (e.g., high school transcript, G.E.D.). Applicants born after 1956 must also provide proof of two MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunizations prior to registering.

Completed applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Within two weeks of receiving an application, the College of Technology will notify applicants of their standing. If a program is full, applicants who fulfill admissions requirements will be placed on a waiting list.

Students may take courses on both the College of Technology and The University of Montana Mountain Campuses. These students must, however, satisfy admissions requirements on both campuses. For further information about taking courses on both campuses, contact the College of Technology Admissions Office.

International Applications

The College of Technology welcomes applications for admission from international students.  The College follows the same admission procedures and requirements as those used by The University of Montana Mountain Campus.

Application Fee

A one-time $30 nonrefundable application fee must be submitted with the initial application. Applicants who have attended The University of Montana or any of its affiliates are not required to pay the application fee. Former College of Technology students or applicants who have paid the fee within one year are also exempt from paying the application fee.

Programs with Waiting Lists

Industrial Technology programs often have waiting lists of up to one year for admission; therefore, you are encouraged to apply early.  The following Industrial Technology programs have waiting lists for Fall Semester 2008.

As long as space is available, the College of Technology will admit students up until the first day of classes each semester. Late applicants must, however, fulfill all admissions requirements before they are allowed to begin classes.

Credit By Exam

Students from high schools with existing articulation agreements with the College of Technology are invited to use this opportunity to get credit for skills they learn at the high school level.

To assist high school students who are considering programs at the College of Technology for their postsecondary education, guidelines have been provided for choosing coursework.

Transfer Credit

Enrollment Services – Admissions at the College of Technology will evaluate transfer work from any accredited college or university. This process can take several weeks; therefore, we encourage you to submit transcripts early.
