College Of Technology Offers Online Section Of Beginning Medical Terminology For Summer 2008

The University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula is offering a new online section of MED 154T, Beginning Medical Terminology, for Summer Semester 2008, which begins on May 18. This class is a health core requirement for the Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, and Surgical Technology programs, and for all Medical Information Technology programs. It is also an excellent choice for students who are preparing for other health program classes. Missoula College Of Technology Schedules Advising Night

Monday, Mar 10 - Wednesday, Apr 9

All newly admitted students at The University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula must attend an advising session before registering for classes. New students admitted to the COT for fall semester 2008 can meet this requirement by attending Early Schedule Advising Night on Wednesday, April 9.

The event will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the COT Administration Building, located at 909 South Ave. W. During the session students will meet with an adviser, create a class schedule and register for fall semester classes using Cyberbear, UM’s online site for conducting business on the Web.

Early advising will be available for all COT programs. For more information and to R.S.V.P., students may call the COT Admissions Office at 406-243-7882 or 800-542-6882.

Students unable to attend Early Schedule Advising Night can make individual advising appointments with their program advisers or meet with them at Orientation, which will be held June 12, July 10 and Aug. 21.

Um College Of Technology Offers Writing Assessment

The University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula will offer the UM Writing Placement Assessment exam for incoming students on April 8 and 9.

According to the Montana Board of Regents, students entering the Montana University System must have a writing proficiency standard demonstrated with a score from ACT, SAT or the MUS Writing Assessment. Students who do not have one of these scores should take the UM writing assessment.

COT will give the hour-long assessments in the Administration Building, located at 909 South Ave. W. The assessments will be held at noon Tuesday, April 8, in Room AD11 and at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Room AD13.

Students who may require reasonable accommodations for the assessment exam should call Dan Burke with Disability Services for Students at 406-243-4424 or e-mail dan.burke@umontana.edu. Accommodation requests should be made 48 hours before the assessment.

COT encourages students who plan to attend Early Schedule Advising Night on April 9 to take the UM writing assessment beforehand.

The University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula is offering an additional online section of SCN 115N, Anatomy, for Spring Semester 2008, which begins on January 22, 2008. SCN 115N, Anatomy, is an excellent class for Health Care Core students who are preparing for SCN 201N, Anatomy and Physiology I. This class also fulfills the non-lab natural science perspective for the Associate of Arts degree. Energy Tech Travels To Boulder With Deq

The UM COT Energy Technology program was invited to Boulder, Montana by David LeMieux, a Department of Environmental Quality Energy Engineer. Five Energy Tech students participated in site evaluation for a private landowner. The students evaluated the area for wind, solar and micro-hydro energy systems. They were asked to calculate the stream flow of a creek that runs through the property and determine a location for solar panels. The Energy Technology program wishes to acknowledge the landowner and David LeMieux for their willingness to share this experience.

College Of Technology To Offer Saturday Classes

The University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula will offer Saturday classes for the first time beginning this fall semester.

Five general education courses will be offered Saturdays when the semester begins Aug. 27. These are Interpersonal Communication (COM 150S), Intermediate Algebra (MAT 100), Organizational Psychology (PSY 110S), Issues in Biology (SCN 195T) and English Composition (WTS 101). These classes are required for many of the college’s 35 programs.

New Energy Technology Program

The University of Montana, College of Technology in Missoula is offering a new 2-year online degree in Energy Technology beginning Autumn Term 2007. The Energy Technology Program introduces students to the full suite of energy technologies—traditional, emerging, renewable, and alternative—and prepares them for careers in the energy industry. Graduates of the program are best described as general practitioners who possess a wide variety of essential skills: a specialized knowledge of the design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse energy technologies and systems, including troubleshooting, sales, management, regulatory compliance, site identification, economic assessment, efficiency and conservation assessment, storage and distribution, research and development, and project management. These specialized skills are bolstered by a broad education in scientific and mathematical fundamentals, critical and analytical thinking, adaptive problem solving and management skills, and an understanding of the economic, social, and environmental implications of different energy technologies.

Update From Dining Room!

I would also like to update you on how the dining room is doing. For the past few weeks, we have been having a full house during our lunch hours. This is very exciting for our entire kitchen and dining room staff. Not only are we running new menus, we are just as busy as a regular restaurant giving us the experience we really need. However, due to our increasing numbers, starting Monday, March 12th, we will no longer be able to accommodate parties larger than four without reservations.

If you are planning on joining us in the Hunter’s Bistro and know that your party will exceed four guests, please call us at 243-7815 before our dining room opens at 11am the day you wish to dine with us.

Stop By The College Of Technology's Hunter Dining Room And Bistro!

School is back in session and the College of Technology's Hunter Dining Room and Bistro is open. If you are looking for a great meal at below market prices, then you really must stop by. All meals are prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program and are made fresh daily. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., and lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reservations and our weekly menu are available by calling 243-7815, but walk-ins are welcome anytime. If you have not visited us before our address is 909 South Avenue West and we are located in the Administration Building.

Classes May Be Added And Dropped With $10 Charge For Each

Student might be still able to add classes, change the grade options with a drop/add form (EXCEPT Audit) or drop classes. If approved, students will be charged $10 for each drop and each add. Deadline is October 9th at 4:30pm.

Last Day to Add Classes / Drop Classes with a Refund or with Override Slip Monday, September 18, 2006 Today is the last day to register for Autumn semester 2006 classes, change credit in variable credit courses, add classes or drop classes with a refund on CyberBear or with override slip. It’s also the last day to change grading option to Audit. Dead line of all of above is 4:30pm!

Last Day To Pay Fees / Finalize Registration For Autumn Semester 2006!

All students must pay their fees or finalize registration. If students haven’t paid fees by Monday, September 18th at 4:30pm, their classes will be cancelled and will no longer be considered active students at The University of Montana. They will not be able to access to University resources soon, such as GrizMail, Blackboard, and Wireless.
