Placement Assessment

Assessment / Placement Scores

(taken within the past three-years)

  • Submit ACT, SAT or ALEKS placement scores

    AND
  • Submit a writing score from the ACT, SAT, MUSWA or COMPASS E-Write

ALEKS Math Placement Assessment

It is recommended that all incoming freshmen (and transfer students still needing to meet their math requirement) take a math placement exam before registering for a math course at The University of Montana College of Technology.  The University has chosen to use ALEKS, a web-based math assessment. You and your advisor will use your ALEKS score to help determine the most appropriate math course for you during registration. Incoming and transfer students may sign-up for this placement exam by visiting www.aleks.com/sign_up.  Course Code: K4VET-DGGQ3.

Writing Assessment

According to the Montana Board of Regents, all students must satisfy a writing proficiency standard that is demonstrated with a score from ACT, SAT, or MUSWA.  Students who do not have one of these scores should take the COMPASS E-Write assessment.  For more information contact Enrollment Services – Admissions at
